Good video, I like Mears too. One thing to remember is that during this period in time a thousand or ten thousand people went into the great white north and had very bad experiences. Thousands went into Alaska during the great goldrush and many died. We celbrate those who made it and we should. We assume they did everything right and to some extent that might be true. But what role did dumb luck play? Cold temperatures and barren lands will kill you and sometimes all the knowledge in the world won't help. Don't be lulled into the belief that our soft 21st century bodies and knowledge base will triumph over mother nature. Be careful out there and have some backup and a plan B and C and...

I saw Ray Mears when he toured the UK to promote his Northern Wilderness series. It was very inspiring seeing Ray talk so passionately about his heroes, especially John Rae, and to learn what Canada was really like when Europeans first started exploring there

I agree with your comments about Ray Mears; I always find his videos to be worthwhile viewing.
